CTT took part in two major events in the Terahertz community calendar recently.
In June our CEO Carole Tucker was invited to give a talk at MTSA2026, the 7th International Symposium on Microwave/Terahertz Science and Applications (https://mtsa2026.riken.jp/) which took place on Miyakojima island, Okinawa. We want to extend sincere thanks to our colleagues and friends Chiko Otani, Kodo Kawase and Masa Tonouchi not only for their kind invitation, but for their hard work and exceptional hospitality. A high quality three day programme of scientific presentations and discussion was made all the more enjoyable by the organisation and beautiful location. But it wasn't all about science - above is a photo of a Japanese Dragon dance which formed part of the entertainment at the conference gala dinner. Not even a typhoon on Day 2 could disrupt the conference!
In July our destination was the Bella Center, in Copenhagen for the rather larger SPIE Astronomical Telescopes and Instrumentation conference,. Below you can see the bust of Niels Bohr outside the old Copenhagen University library building. This SPIE conference is traditionally a meeting place for many in the sub-millimetre and Far-Infrared astronomy community and it was wonderful and valuable to spend time with our colleagues there. Our community may be small compared to that working at higher frequencies (where the photons are helpfully energetic and travel in straight lines), but it can be justly proud of the quality of work it carries out, its crucial contributions to science, its aspiration and its vision.
